Learning to Read
Today has been a big day. I took some fabulous naps for Mommy, but then I woke up from my afternoon one and couldn't stop crying. I cried no matter what Mommy did: she fed me, changed me, burped me, and I still kept crying. She was worried that something big was wrong with me, since I don't usually cry much, but the truth is, I just got started and couldn't stop. When it was time to play, I finally stopped.
But here's the reason it was a big day: I turned the pages on my storybook all by myself. Mommy was reading me a story, and I turned the pages for her. I've been watching her and Daddy do it so much that I figured out how to do it myself. It made Mommy cry, which I just don't understand. She told me I did a good job and that she was proud of me, and her voice sounded happy. So, why were there tears coming out of her eyes? Mommies are hard to figure out sometimes.
I guess this means that someday I'll learn to read the storybook to myself, too. That will be pretty fun, but I hope Daddy and Mommy will still hold me in their laps while I read to them.
Helping Baby Ira
Our family has been following the blog of a family linked to Emma Claire's blog: Baby Ira's blog. His Mommy and Daddy knew he would have a tough time even before he was born. Now he's four months old and is still in the hospital. The nurses took good care of me in the hospital, but I didn't want to stay there for months and months! Anyway, you can see his blog by clicking on his link over to the right where Mommy put it, and there is also a place over there where you can help him. I think staying in the hospital must be very expensive for baby Ira. I hope you'll pray for him, and I hope he gets better!
A new friend for me!

Here is my new friend Owen. He was just born today, and he's still at the hospital with his mommy and daddy, as you can see. I haven't met him yet, but his mommy and daddy are friends with my mommy and daddy, so I hope I get to meet him soon. Welcome to the world, Owen!

OK, this is a really embarrassing picture, and I can't believe Mommy is posting it. She took a picture while I was talking and right in the middle of a word. (I know she wouldn't like it if someone shared a not-so-cute picture of her!) Anyway, this picture shows my new tooth, which I secretly let grow in on our trip. Now I have two!
Road Trip
This is a surprise to you, and it was to me, too. Mommy and Daddy and I took a long trip in the car and got home yesterday. We needed to drive to say goodbye to one of Daddy's great uncles. That was sad, but the happy part is that he gets to be with Jesus now. That sounds like a good deal to me!
We had a lot of adventures on our trip. My favorite one was that I got to try pieces of a fruit called "peaches" that had just been picked off of a tree. A messier adventure was having a dirty diaper changed on a gravel road way out in the country. I had secretly wiped the contents of my diaper all over my leg, face, and car seat before Mommy and Daddy even knew I was dirty. I'm pretty sneaky sometimes!
I got to see some grandparents and other fun people on my trip, so I'm glad we got to go. But, I'm even more glad that we're home now, because I get to crawl around instead of being strapped into my car seat!
I'm 8 months old today!

It's a big day for me! As you can see, that means Mommy wants to take lots of pictures of me all in a row. It's getting harder for her to do that each month, because I have other ideas of what I want to do besides be in pictures. I tried lots of times to grab the camera from Mommy, but I never quite got it. (She didn't post those pictures!)
Life is getting more and more exciting at our house. I have learned that I don't have to stay in the room where Mommy and Daddy put me-I can wander off on my own. I'm sure our house is full of all kinds of hidden toys!

This is my wagon that I got for a gift while I was still in Mommy's tummy. You may have noticed that in today's pictures, my shirt has a lot of wet spots on it. Well, I can't seem to keep my slobber from falling out of my mouth. It drips on everything. I hope I can learn how to keep it in before I go to kindergarten-otherwise, I might be in for some embarrassing days!
