Even though we're sad right now, we wanted to show our faraway friends what it looks like here when the almonds bloom. We're thankful that spring is early here-it starts in February-so at least the weather and the blossoms keep us cheered up!
It's hard to imagine, but if you can, picture acres and acres of these beautiful white blossoms. They are the first trees to bloom in the spring. If the weather is warm and dry and the bees can do their jobs, these blossoms will be yummy almonds at the end of the summer. (At least, I hear they're yummy. I haven't been brave enough to eat them yet.)
My great grandpa used to be an almond farmer when he was younger, so these pictures can remind us of him, too. I hope you enjoy them!
